The Infinity technology combines the already proven Instant Drive 360 freewheel with a weight-saving design and a balanced spoke system, where non-contact Straight Pull spokes with uniform length provide a more consistent spoke tension.
As already the Classic J-Bend version, the Mavic MX801 Infinity hub features optimized spoke angles and reduced asymmetry to be able to guarantee stable, stiff and durable wheels. The Instant Drive 360 ratchet freewheel also convinces the Infinity model with a minimum release angle of 9° and perfect power transmission with the lowest friction losses and a fascinating sound during rolling.
The QRM Auto system with automatic bearing preload ensures low-friction bearing operation and perfectly adjusted bearing clearance without adjustment effort. 4 large-dimension industrial bearings with minimal play protect the hub made of CNC-machined aluminum both from dust and moisture and ensure a permanently smooth operation.
Developed, designed and tested in France. CNC-machined in Europe.
Technical details of the Mavic MX801 Infinity rear hub
- material: aluminum
- installation dimension: 12 x 148 mm (thru axle, Boost)
- max. spoke thickness: 2.4 mm
- spoke type: Straightpull
- brake disc mount: Centerlock
- freewheel: Instant Drive 360 (ratchet)
- bearing system: QRM Auto
Mavic’s Infinity technology takes advantage of Straightpull spokes to design stronger and stiffer wheels than it would be possible with conventional J-Bend spokes. The straight spoke type allows not only a weight reduction of the hub body, but also a more balanced spoke tension.
The Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super-lightweight and provides fast frictional engagement with only a 9° pressure angle. A large non-contact rubber seal lowers friction.
Mavic’s latest bearing innovation. These industrial bearings (internal clearance: C3) are of course double sealed. Their bearing clearance is automatically adjusted to guarantee permanently smooth running without any play.
